The lake in which this city lies, Moses Lake has three main arms of over 18 miles. This makes it the largest water body in the Grant County.
History
The Moses Lake area waslargely barren before the construction of the Grand Coulee Dam in 1941. The area was fondly known as Houaph by the Native Americans. The Sinkiuse tribe inhabited the area before the arrival of the white settlers. Their leader was known as Chief Moses. He was later forced to negotiate with the settlers and as a result, ended up trading with the Columbia Basin Land.
