Bellingham city is located in Whatcom County in Washington. It is the largest city in the county and the 13 th largest in the State. As at 2015, this city had an estimated population of 85146. This city borders Whatcom, Sehome, and Fairhaven towns. History
This city has its name derived from Bellingham Bay. This is the bay on which the city is located. In turn, the bay got its name from George Vancouver who visited the area in 1792. He named the bay ‘Sir William Bellingham’ after the comptroller of the storekeeper’s account of the Royal Navy. Before the arrival of the European-Americans, this area had for long been inhabited by the Coast Salish people of Lummi. Bellingham was incorporated as a city in 1903 after the consolidation of four towns in the area.
