The town was officially incorporated on May 8, 1909. It is home to the Washington Portland Cement Company and so it was first named as “Cement City”. The new residents finally called it “Concrete” and registered it like so.

Concrete, Washington is also home to the National Historic Heritage – Henry Thompson Bridge. This was built in 1916 – 1918 and claimed to be the longest single-span concrete bridge in the West at that time. You can also find the world’s highest hydro-electric dam in town – the Lower Baker Dam. It has a height of 89 meters and is currently being operated by the Puget Sound Energy.

Other interesting sites to visit in Concrete are the Great Northern Railway Corridor and the Concrete Theatre.
