This is a city that is located in Whatcom County in the state of Washington. Ferndale is the third largest in this county. As per the 2010 census, this city had an approximated population of 11415.

The City’s History

Ferndale got its name as a result of the ferns that used to grow around the original school house. Originally, this city was known as Jam since it was located next to a log jam. This was at the Nooksack River. As time went by, a more realistic name was sought by the school’s principal. This city was first settled in 1872. However, it only got its incorporation in March, 1907.

This beautiful city has a total area of 6.69 square miles. Out of this, 6.61 is covered by land while the rest 0.08 square miles is covered by water. On the map, this city is located at 48°50′56″N 122°35′25″W.

This city has an average climate in that no average monthly temperatures are above 22 degrees. However, compared to the rest of the Whatcom County, it is fairly much wetter and colder.
