Chelan is a city that is located in the Chelan County, Washington. This city lies on the south-east end of Lake Chelan which flows into the Chelan River. As at the 2010 population census, this city had an estimated population of 3890 people. Lake Chelan forms part of the Wenatchee−East Wenatchee Metropolitan Statistical Area.
History
The Chelan area was originally inhabited by the Salish speaking Chelan tribe. This was before the arrival of the white explorers in the early 1800’s. In the late 1800’s, this area boasted of having a post office and a bank after which it was incorporated in 1902. As at this time, the area was largely an agricultural hub.
