Lynden is a city that is located in Whatcom County, Washington. This city is unique in the sense that it is the second largest city in the county. It was established and named in 1874. This was near the site of the Nooksack Indian village dubbed Squahalish. This city is approximately 65 miles south of the Canada-United States Border.

History

This city was established in 1874 by Holden and Phoebe Judson. Phoebe Judson the city after the riverside town in the poem, ‘Hohenlinden’ by Thomas Campbell. She changed the word Linden to Lynden in order to make it more appealing. This city’s main entrance is between two cemeteries. In addition, this city is well known for its well manicured lawns, Dutch Architecture and numerous churches.

Lynden has a total area of 5.18 square miles. Out of this, 5.17 square miles is covered by land while the rest 0.01 square miles is covered by water. According to the United States Census Bureau, this city had an estimated population of 11951 people. On the map, this city is located ta coordinates 48°56′48″N 122°27′25″W. The Nooksack River also runs through the city’s southern border although it is through a short portion.
