Monroe is a city in Snohomish County, Washington, United States, and is located at the meeting point of the Skokomish, Snohomish, and Snoqualmie rivers, about 48 km NE of Seattle.
The history of Monroe goes back to 1864 and was originally known as Park Place. It was previously a trading post and was renamed Monroe in honor of the US President James Monroe.
According to the census of 2010, Monroe had 17,304 people, 5,024 households, and 3,600 families residing in the city. This was made up of 76% White, 3.5% African American, 1.4% Native American, 2.8% Asian, 0.4% Pacific Islander, 9.6% from other races, and 3.8% from two or more races.
