Port Orchard is a city nestled in Kitsap County in the US state of Washington. In 2000 it had a population of 7,693 inhabitants and a population density of 738.3 people per km².

History

In 1886, the town became Port Orchard by Federick, whose name came after his father, Sidney. The city of Sidney was integrated on September 15,’1890. However, after the popular vote in 1892, the county seat originated in Port Madison. Until 1903, the local politician Will Thompson persuaded the state legislature to relocate the Charleston Post office back to the Charleston.

The city of Port Orchard covers the total area of 22.1 km2, out of which land occupies the area of 18.8 km2 and water covers the area of 3.3 km2.
