It is home to the Washington Portland Cement Company and so it was first named as \u201cCement City\u201d. The new residents finally called it \u201cConcrete\u201d and registered it like so.<\/p>\n

Concrete, Washington is also home to the National Historic Heritage \u2013 Henry Thompson Bridge. This was built in 1916 \u2013 1918 and claimed to be the longest single-span concrete bridge in the West at that time. You can also find the world\u2019s highest hydro-electric dam in town \u2013 the Lower Baker Dam. It has a height of 89 meters and is currently being operated by the Puget Sound Energy.<\/p>\n
