Auburn is the largest city in Lee county, Alabama state USA. The city covers a land area of about 60.54 square miles while about 1.03 square miles are covered by water. The city first appeared as an incorporated town in the US national census conducted in 1870 and as per the 2019 census estimates, the city had a population of about 66, 259 people. According to the 2019 census estimates, a quarter of the city`s population and 9.2 of families in Auburn lived below the poverty line. Based on data drawn from the census, the wide disparity between families and households in the city is attributable to the high number of students in the city of Auburn.

Education

The city is widely known because of Auburn university, the main post-secondary school institution in the areas. As of 2019, the university had an enrollment of 30,000 plus students, majority of the student pursuing undergraduate courses. Among the undergraduate students, majority of them were either pursuing a bachelor`s courses in engineering, business, veterinary medicine or agriculture. In addition to the university, the city is also the home to Ludwig von Mises Institute, one high school, one junior high school, two middle schools and eight elementary schools.

Tourism

The city is also a tourist site. Among the top tourist attraction centers is the art centers such as the Telfair Peet theatre, Jule Collins Smith Museum, Auburn community Orchestra and bands from various learning institutions in the city. The city is also home to several parks such as the Chewacla state park, Donald E. Davies Arboretum, Kiesel park, among others.
