Draper’s climate is similar to that of other Salt Lake City suburbs. Draper, on the other hand, has a slightly drier winter and more temperature extremes due to its distance from the Great Salt Lake, varied elevation, and proximity to the downtown urban heat island effect.
The average temperatures in winter and summer are 30°F to 50°F and 80°F to 100°F, respectively. Spring is typically mild and wet, whereas fall can occasionally become an Indian summer with drier weather. Draper is technically a cool/warm semi-arid desert environment with monsoonal summer moisture, but it is located on the border of the humid continental/subtropical climatic zones. From November to March, snow usually falls on a regular basis.
Draper has two UTA stations (Draper Town Center, 12300 South, and Kimball’s Lane, 11800 South) as well as one on the border with Sandy (Crescent View, 11400 South). A Frontrunner commuter rail station serves the city’s west side. The city has around 5 flex bus routes connecting neighboring communities and two bus routes to Lehi Frontrunner Station and River/Herriman, connecting at Draper Town Center and the Draper Frontrunner Stations.
The city is home to a large eBay campus. Draper’s south leads to Lehi and Highland, and its east leads to Alpine. Because of its proximity to these cities, Draper is one of Utah’s most popular suburban areas. Despite its quaint and laid-back appearance, Draper is a haven for adventurers due to its natural attractions, which can be seen in its parks and nature reserves and invite exciting outdoor activities.
Draper is well-known not only for its outdoor attractions but also for its paragliding and gliding activities due to its year-round favorable winds.
