Parker is a town in Douglas County, Colorado, in the United States. As a self-declared town under home rule legislation, Parker is the county’s second most populated town; Castle Rock is the most populous (the community of Highlands Ranch, with a population of over 100,000) and is an unincorporated CDP). Parker, located in the southeastern region of the Denver metropolitan area, has recently become a commuter town. The town’s population was 58,512 as of the 2020 census. Parker is presently the state of Colorado’s 19th most populated municipality.

The area’s first known inhabitants were ancient and Plains Woodland peoples. By the 1800s, Utes, Arapaho, and Cheyenne had settled in the region. They were all hunter-gatherers who set up seasonal camps to harvest food. Franktown Cave, a nearby rock shelter, reveals evidence of occupation beginning about 6,400 BC and continuing through the following cultural eras until 1725 AD.

The Parker Area Historical Society renovated the Twenty Mile post office, which was once the Pine Grove post office building. It’s on Main Street, just west of Parker Road. Ruth Memorial Methodist Episcopal Church is a National Register of Historic Places listing. Thanks to a History Colorado State Historical Fund grant, the Parker Consolidated School at the Mainstreet Center has been restored. The Hood House, one of two residences that escaped destruction from the Tallman Gulch flood of 1912, is located in Preservation Park. Tallman-Newlin Cabin and Parker Cemetery are two more historical sites.

Parker is mainly known for historical events, sites, and activities. Aside from that, Parker city runs multiple businesses. That requires the internet to function.
