These are just a few of the features of San Francisco that make it one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world.San Francisco, CA 94134, also has an active internet supply from Xfinity Comcastservice provider.

Geography of San Francisco

San Francisco is physically fairly small, yet its options are enormous. It has an 800,000-person population and is situated on a square of land that is seven by seven miles (11 by 11 kilometers) in size at the point of a peninsula between the Pacific Ocean and San Francisco Bay. The whole San Francisco Bay Area is made up of several cities, including San Francisco.

Oakland and Berkeley, which are located east of the Bay Bridge, Marin County, which is located north of the Golden Gate Bridge, and cities south of the peninsula, all of which are in distinct counties and have their own local public transit systems, are some of San Francisco’s neighbors.

History

The Yelamu tribe, who belonged to the broader Ohlone linguistic group that spanned south from the Bay Area to the Big Sur of California, lived on the peninsula that houses San Francisco before European settlers arrived. Early European explorers simply skipped through the Golden Gate and San Francisco Bay because of the city’s foggy weather.

In what is now known as the Mission Dolores in the Mission District, the Spanish established the first European colony in the region in 1776 as a mission community centeredon the Mission San Francisco de Ass. Along with the mission, El Presidio, a military fort, was constructed close to the Golden Gate.

The region was included in Mexico after that country won its independence from Spain in 1821. The mission system eventually ended during Mexican control, opening the door to private property ownership. The village of Yerba Buena, the first substantial community on the peninsula outside of the Mission Dolores region, was established in 1835 by an Englishman the name of William Richardson. Yerba Buena established a street pattern and gained popularity as the new town grew over time.

When the United States annexed California in 1846, the US Navy came to hoist the American flag above Yerba Buena in July of that year. After the Mexican-American War, California formally joined the US, and the town’s name shifted from Yerba Buena to San Francisco over the following several years.

With the 1848 California Gold Rush, San Francisco’s population started to soar. Chinese immigrants made up a sizable portion of the city’s immigrant population, making it one of the largest Chinese communities outside of Asia. During this time, San Francisco saw the creation and growth of several significant enterprises and the relocation of well-known (and notorious) figures. Naturally, all of this prosperity wasn’t without its challenges. The city’s explosive expansion outpaced efforts at city planning, leaving basic sanitation and infrastructure poorly underdeveloped, which caused a cholera outbreak in 1855. Anti-immigrant violence led to several racial riots and blatant brutality, and corruption.

San Francisco’s economy is diverse, even though it depends on its reputation as a top tourist destination. Professional services, government, banking, commerce, and tourism are the industries with the most employees. Its frequent representation in music, movies, books, and popular culture has contributed to the city’s and its landmarks’ global recognition. San Francisco has built up a sizable tourism infrastructure, including a wide variety of hotels, eateries, and first-rate conference centers.
