Founded in 1849 by Captain Charles Maria Weber, Stockton is now a city and county seat of San Joaquin County. It is situated in the Central Valley in California. Named upon Robert F. During the early years of settlement, this city was termed as “Webberville,” “Fat City,” “Mudville” and “California’s Sunrise Seaport.” In the 1850s Stockton saw lots of Chinese people migrating due to political and economical unrest in China and the discovery of gold in California. In 1880, Stockton was acknowledged to have the third-largest Chinese community accumulation in California. Also, Stockton is the first city where the first Sikh temple was erected in the United States, named Gurdwara Sahib Stockton, which opened on October 24, 1912. It was founded by Baba Jawala Singh and Baba Wasakha Singh, both of whom were Punjabi immigrants who farmed on 500 acres of land near Holt River.

Due to its location in Central Valley, Stockton faces slightly greater temperature ranges in the nearby Bay Area. The land is fertile and comprises the fertile heart of the prairie delta in California’s Mediterranean climate. As per the census of 2010 in the US, Stockton was found out to have a population of 291,707. Racial mixup comprises 37% white, 12% African American, 1% Native American, 21% Asian, and the rest others.

As per its ranking, Stockton was recently termed as America’s most diverse city in 2020. The top employers in the city consist of big names such as St. Joseph’s Medical Center, Stockton Unified School District, City of Stockton, Dameron Hospital, Kaiser Permanente, San Joaquin Delta College, University of the Pacific, Lincon Unified School District, and more. Stockton Symphony is considered to be the third-oldest professional orchestra in California. Haggin Museum is a private, non-profit fine arts museum that was built in 1931.

Some of these festivals are San Joaquin International Film Festival, St. Patrick Day and Shamrock Run, Brubeck Jazz Festival, Cinco de Mayo Parade and Festival, Jewish Food Fair, Black Family Day, Greek Festival, and more. Nick and Nate Diaz are two mixed martial arts fighters under the UFC banner and they are from Stockton.
