Named after the Brighton Beach in New York, the town was originally named Hughes Station back when it was a railroad depot and farming community. Located along the banks of the South Platte River, Brighton is a northeastern Denver suburb that was founded in 1970 and incorporated in 1887.
Since Brighton enjoys more than 300 days in the sunshine annually, it offers a wide range of outdoor attractions like the Brighton Oasis Aquatic Park, Berry Patch Farms, and Barr Lake.
