Clinton is a city in and the county seat of Clinton County, Iowa, United States. The population was 26,885 as of 2010. Clinton, along with DeWitt, Iowa, was named in honor of the sixth governor of New York, DeWitt Clinton.

Clinton is a city located in and the county seat of the Clinton County, Iowa, United States. It is a city which was named in the respect DeWitt Clinton, who was the sixth governor of New York. The city was together with DeWitt, Iowa. It is a city in Iowa which is also known as the Clinton Micropolitan Statistical Area, principal city. On January 26, 1857, the city was incorporated.
It is a city in Iowa which is situated at 41°50′49″N 90°12′26″W. As per the United States Census Bureau, the total area of Clinton is 38.01 square miles out of which, 2.86 square miles is water and 35.15 square miles is land.
History:-
The Elijah Buell, was the first settler in the Clinton area among the European origins. On July 25 of the year 1835, a log cabin was built by him and the town of Lyons was established. The town was named after the French city of the similar name.
Later, Lyons merged with this city in Iowa. Joseph Bartlett, platted this city in Iowa as the town of the New York in the year 1836. Noble and Sarah Gregory Perrin were the first who purchased 136 acres of land in Clinton, Iowa in March 1837.
