Missouri is a constituent state of the United States of America. It is bordered in the north by Iowa, to the east by Illinois, Kentucky, and Tennessee, to the south by Arkansas, and the west by Oklahoma, Kansas, and Nebraska. Running through the state is the Missouri River, from Kansas City in the west, through Jefferson City the capital, to St. Louis in the east before meeting the Mississippi River.
The name Missouri originated from a group of indigenous people living in the area during the European settlement. The French named the river after the community and the river gave its name to the state. The state became the 24th member of the union on August 10, 1821.
Missouri has a large number of man-made lakes. The Lake of the Ozarks, created by the Bagnell Dam on the Osage River is 241 sq km and has a shoreline of about 2,200 km, being the largest artificial lake in the USA.
Visitors to Missouri will not be short of memorable experiences. The City Museum offers MonstroCity, the world’s largest Jungle Gym, five and ten-story slides, The Enchanted Caves, Everyday Circus, and more. The working 1940s Ferris wheel gives the riders a wonderful view of St. Louis from the top. Other must-see places are the National World War I Museum and Memorial, Missouri Botanical Gardens, The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, and Forest Park St. Louis.
The State provides visitors with a wide range of accommodations. These include cabin/cottage, campgrounds/RV sites, condo/guesthouse, hotels, houseboats, motels, and resorts. Weekend gateways can be planned at Kansas City, St. Joseph, Rocheport, and Springfield.
Most importantly, Missouri is a CenturyLink Internet State providing high-speed Internet connectivity to the residents and visitors. The State is linked internationally and nationally at outstanding download speeds of 1 GBPS and upload speeds between 2 to 1000 MBPS.
