CenturyLink Internet ASPEN, CO 81611
Aspen is the county seat and the most highly populated Municipality of Pitkin County, Colorado, United States. It is located in the remote area of the Rocky Mountains’ Sawatch Range and the Elk Mountains at a height of 2,400m above sea level on the Western Slope, 11 miles west of the Continental Divide. The population of Aspen was 6,658 as per the 2010 United States Census.
Aspen was founded as a mining town during the Colorado Silver Boom in the 1870s and was given its name based on the abundance of aspen trees that grew in the area. The city saw exponential growth during the 1880s but that ended quickly during the Panic of 1893. A collapse in the silver market saw people leaving Aspen and by 1930, the population had dropped to less than a thousand.
The city though saw a reversal in the fortunes in the mid-20th century when the neighboring Aspen Mountain was developed into a ski-resort and industrialist Walter Paepeke bought many properties in the area and developed them. Two of the present three internationally famous institutions – the Aspen Music Festival and School, the Aspen Institute, and the Aspen Center for Physics – were founded by Paepeke.
Aspen is famous as a travel destination, frequented by the rich and the famous. This beautiful mountain town is renowned for its four ski resorts – Aspen Mountain, Snowmass Mountain, Aspen Highlands Mountain, and Buttermilk Mountain. Additionally, there is a wide variety of outdoor activities, arts programs, cultural events, and cosmopolitan nightlife. There are many hotels, restaurants, shopping, and nightlife catering to visitors with varying budgets.
Aspen is a CenturyLink Internet City and is connected to the rest of the country and internationally through high-speed Internet connectivity. Residents and visitors get lightning-fast 1 GBPS download and 2 to 1000 MBPS upload speeds.
