Bailey is situated in the foothills of the Front Range, 30 miles southwest of Denver along U.S. Highway 285. It is located on the east of Kenosha Pass and is one of the largest communities in the Platte Canyon region.

In 1864, settler William Bailey came and built a stage known as Bailey’s Ranch. He also built a hotel at the station, hence the town eventually known as Bailey. First Post Office of the Bailey was opened on November 20, 1878. The first railroad the Denver & South Park Railroad reached into Bailey in 1878.
