Britt is a city located in the state of Iowa, United States. This city hosts a National Hobo Convention every year in the month of August since 1900 which includes arts and crafts, parade, food, entertainment, etc.
History:
In 1870, the first post-office was established and in 1874, a small grocery store was opened in this city. On June 20, 1878, the city was platted by the two proprietors – William H. Lorimier and John T. Stoneman. J. H. Burdick was the first settler of this city who came in 1876. In the same year, the first hotel was constructed in the city by S. F. Benson. In 1879, the first paper was published in the city and in 1880, J. D. Smith opened the first restaurant in this city. In 1881, the city of Britt was incorporated.
