History:
The city of Columbia was first settled in 1818 and was founded in 1821. In 1826, the city was incorporated. After one year of incorporation, the first hospital was set up in Columbia by a physician William Jewell. In 1833, the Stephens College was established and in 1839, the University of Missouri was established in this city. In 1851, another college named Columbia College was founded in the city of Columbia.
