Lying in the county of Hampton in the state of South Carolina is a town named after Colonel John Holbrook Estill on a land 3.5 square miles. It is 93 miles West of Charleston, 52 miles North of Savannah Georgia and 64 miles Northwest of Hilton Island. The town rose as a result of the extension of the railroad in 1900, which was required to link up Augusta, Georgia and Savannah, Georgia. As a newfangled town, it was assimilated in 1905. It is well on the radar of the United States as it hosts National Historic Places such as the Lawtonville Baptist Church and the John Lawton House.

To attest the growth of the Estill (29918-4836) is its demographic statistics. Within a century, its population has grown by about five times moving from 460 people in 1910 to 2040 people in 2010. The people residing in town are of different racial backgrounds but the African Americans are the majority at 77.7%. The rest of the population is made up of Whites, Native Americans, Hispanics and Latinos. Their ages are also well spread out with people over 80 years old present.

Various social amenities and institutions can be found within this great town. For hospitals and medical centers, the Unihealth Post-Acute Care is on 200 Liberty Street South and just near Estill are the Hampton Regional Medical Center, Allendale County Hospital among others. Four schools are located within the town but residents have access to many colleges and universities with the Georgia Southern University, and Savannah State University being in close proximity. The Town’s good transportation is boosted by the Harpers Airport, which serves the Estill Industrial Park, Estill Public Library, Estill Fire Department Station, Hampton County Fire Department Station as well as the Estill South Carolina Police Department.
