CenturyLink Internet Golden, CO
Golden is the County seat of Jefferson County, Colorado, United States. It lies at the base of the front range of the Rocky Mountains along the Clear Creek. Golden was originally a mining camp founded during the Pike’s Peak gold rush on June 16, 1859. It was first named “Golden City” in honor of Thomas J. Golden and served as the capital of the provisional Territory of Jefferson from 1860 to 1861. From 1862 to 1867, it was the capital and the official territory of Colorado.
However, in 1867, the territorial capital was shifted 12 miles east to Denver City.
Golden grew exponentially in population, size, and economy after World War II. In 1959 alone, the town annexed large properties in the South and nearly tripled in geographic size.
Around that period, several subdivisions were built and public infrastructure was modernized. Landmark constructions of that time are the senior high school, city hall, recreation center, library, museum, and central fire and police stations. Also built was a new downtown with department and grocery stores, new county offices, church buildings, and the Horizon Plan, specifically for the School of Mines. The Colorado School of Mines Geology Museum has exhibits on earth science and mining history. Northeast is the Colorado Railroad Museum, with vintage trains and an 1800’s-style railroad depot.
Visitors to Golden have lots to do, from white water kayaking to fine dining to shopping. Afternoons can be spent at the Clear Creek or aboard the vintage trains at the Colorado Railway Museum. Must do are a drive up Lookout Mountain and a visit to the Buffalo Bill’s Grave and Museum.
Golden is a CenturyLink Internet City and is connected to the rest of the country and internationally through high-speed Internet connectivity. Residents and visitors get lightning-fast 1 GBPS download and 2 to 1000 MBPS upload speeds.
