Located at a distance of 114 miles from Austin and 123 miles from Dallas, the city of Hamilton (76531-2837) is the county seat of Hamilton County, Texas. Like many early Texas settlements, the place which is now Hamilton started out as a colony of cotton production farms.

Hamilton County was formed by the decree of the Sixth Legislature from parts of Bosque, Comanche and Lampasas counties and by the turn of the century, the cotton fields in the area covered a whopping 47,500 acres of county land.
