Hardin Montana is the county seat of Big Horn County with a population around 4,000. The city is located off Interstate 90 and is a wonderful place to take in the natural beauty of southeast Montana. The town is located 48 miles east of Billings and is the first choice for city folks wishing for a day out and away from the trappings of civilization.
Hardin offers many attractions to see and do, such as, Bighorn River, a great place for fly-fishing, which is also popular with trekkers. The Big Horn County Museum is an outdoor museum, and its main attraction is an old rail depot. The Crow Fair is an annual event that holds significance for the indigenous population of the place; it is an opportunity to get a first-hand look at Native American culture. 15 miles from Bighorn is the site of Custer’s last stand. Pompey’s Pillar is an isolated rock located 36 miles from Hardin; climb it to view the signature of William Clark carved in stone; he was one half of the famed Lewis and Clark expedition.
