Lacey Washington lies in Thurston County as a suburb of Olympia. This town of around 45,000 residents is located at the foothills of Mount Rainier and at the southern extremity of Puget Sound. It is a picturesque place to call home. Lacey came into existence in 1853 was originally called Woodland after settler Isaac and Catherine Wood claimed land there in 1853. By 1891, the town of Woodland had a large enough population to qualify to apply for a post office. The initial request was denied, because there already was a town called Woodland on the Columbia River. The second post office application listed the city name as Lacey. The city of Lacey was not officially incorporated until 1966.

Today, Lacey is a fast-developing town; sporting one of the Northwest’s first ever “indoor malls”.  The townsfolk pursue an environment friendly lifestyle. Lacey is a “Green Power Community”.  With five freshwater lakes within the city, unlimited hiking and biking opportunities, and the Nisqually Wildlife Refuge, a stone’s throw away, Lacey is a veritable paradise for lovers of the outdoors. Lacey has a reputation of being one of the most secure cities in the Pacific Northwest.

Lacey, with its waterfront homes, apartments, and townhomes, is an attractive residential destination for professionals and retirees. Lacey offers visitors a pleasant array of things to do and experience. You can pay a visit to sports outfitter Cabela’s complex. Stroll through the campus of the venerable Saint Martin’s University. The Lacey Spring Fun Fair is an opportunity to get into the spirit of things with the locals. Watch a movie in an open-air theater, catch a jazz performance, or take the kids for a day of learning and exploration at any of the many venues where such activities are regularly held. Lacey 98503-7145 has a rich history; the permanent and rotating exhibits at the Lacey Museum are testimony to it.
