On a 5.17 square mile piece of land is the Ontario City under the leadership of Mayor Ronald Verini as part of the OR-ID Micropolitan Statistical Area. The city is found in the county of Malheur and State of Oregon. It is located just beside the Snake River around the Idaho border. The city, which is the midpoint of Portland and Salt Lake City, was started in 1883 by developers Daniel Smith, James Virtue, William Morfitt and Mary Richardson at a point where at first, only a post office existed. With the construction of the railroad, the town continued to grow steadily and was finally incorporated in February 1899.

At 2,150 feet above sea level and a cold desert dry-summer continental climate, its population is not expected to be as large, but still it has grown by a large number. As it was founded in 1890, only 200 people were residing in it but as per 2010, this number had grown to 11,366. The racial composition is quite varied inclusive of Whites, African American, Native Americans, Asians, Hispanics, Latinos and Pacific Islanders.

Ontario’s (97914-4513) economy heavily relies on agriculture with cultivation of onions, russet potatoes and sugar beets. From this, the city easily attracts traders and others seeking employment. Besides that, The City’s Four River Cultural Center that houses a museum, theater and conference center also charms quite a large mass of people. The city and its surrounding, Eastern Oregon and Southwest Idaho, are serviced by the St. Alphonsus Medical Center. Education is also not left behind with many public and private schools. Linking up the parts of Ontario Oregon is the Snake River Transit, which directly links Fruitland and Payette, the Interstate 84 connecting Portland, Boise and Ogden as well as the Ontario Municipal Airport.
