Pomeroy is a city in Garfield County, Washington, United States. The population was 1,425 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of and only city in Garfield County.

The city of Pomeroy is located in Garfield County in the United States of America. This County sits in the state of Washington and boasted of a population of approximately 1425 people as of the 2010 census. Pomeroy also boasts of being the only city in this county.
History and Education
Before history could be recorded, the Nez Perce trail existed in this area. Later on, the first Caucasian visitors arrived in the area in 1805. They were named Clark and Lewis. In 1834, a Captain by the name of Benjamin Bonneville happened to pass through the future location of Pomeroy city as he was surveying for the United States government. By 1860, numerous settlers started to arrive in the area. For instance, Parson Quinn who was from Ireland would settle east of the present-day city. He lived here for approximately 40 years. It is around this period that Joseph Pomeroy, a rancher, purchased the present-day land of the city and platted the site in 1878. This city would later be incorporated in February 1886.
Regarding education, the Pomeroy School District 110 exists. Students in the area are able to get quality education at the Pomeroy Junior and Senior schools. The student-teacher ratio at the Pomeroy School District is 14:1. The state test scores exhibit that around 52% of the students in the area are proficient in math while 62% are good in reading.
