Port Orchard is a city in and the county seat of Kitsap County, Washington, United States. It is located 13 miles due west of West Seattle and connected to Seattle and Vashon Island via the Washington State Ferries run to Southworth.

Occupying a total area of 8.52 square miles Port Orchard Washington is found 13 miles due west of West Seattle. It lies in the Kitsap County of the State of Washington. The city was named after the channel that divides the Bainbridge Island and the Kitsap Peninsula, the Port Orchard. The growth of the city was after William Renton and Daniel Howard settled in it in 1854 that thereafter started a sawmill. It was incorporated on September15th,1890.
When the first census was carried out, the city only had 226 residence but with its growth, saw a rise in population. It recorded 11,144 people in 2010. These included all races, with Whites being the majority with 80.8% and the rest included Asians, Native Americans, Pacific islanders and Latinos among others.For the population, 45.7% were married couples living together, 13.3% being single women, 4.6% single men and 36.3% did not have families. Additionally, 33% of people live with their children but 9.5% are elderly people who are living alone. The population is dominated by young people with the median age being 34.5 years. Most of the residents have comfortable lives with only 12.9% of the population living below the poverty line, a factor contributed by good pay: the median income being $34,020.
