Schuyler is a city in Colfax County, Nebraska, United States. The population was 6,211 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Colfax County. The city is named after former Vice President of the United States, Schuyler Colfax.

Schuyler is a city located in the Colfax County of the State of Nebraska. Both the County and the city are named after the former Vice President of USA, Schuyler Colfax. The central location of Schuyler has been part of four events of historical significance and they are the Oregon Trail (1836 to 1869), the Mormon Trail (1840s to 1850s), the Transcontinental Railway in 1866, and America’s first transcontinental highway, the coast-to-coast Lincoln Highway (1913 to 1925).
Schuyler is well known for its Oak Ballroom designed by Nebraska architect Emiel J. Christensen, which is a historic building constructed using native oak and it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. A must visit place in Schuyler with great historical significance. At Schuyler Park Campground.
Schuyler is home to the Cargill beef-processing plant, which is also its largest employer with more than 2000 people working in this plant. Schuyler has also the necessary amenities like hospitals and medical centers, library, high school, elementary school, banks, parks, etc. The parks in Schuyler offer opportunities for outdoor recreation as they are equipped with swimming pool, fishing ponds, five ball diamonds, etc. One can also enjoy overnight camping there. The tennis courts and soccer fields along with sand volleyball courts are great for kids and teens. The town gives a rural feeling but is very safe and also if you need to approach to the nearest major town, it’s only a 20 minutes’ drive which makes up for any amenity that is lacking in Schuyler.
