Tallassee is a city on the Tallapoosa River, located in both Elmore and Tallapoosa counties in the U.S. state of Alabama. At the 2010 census the population was 4,819.

Located in South Central Alabama on the Tallapoosa River. The small town is only 20 minutes away from the Auburn and State Capitol of Montgomery. Tallassee is blessed with natural resources as the Tallapoosa River runs through the heart of the town. Although Tallassee oozes an old town charm, it is an important industrial spot in the Elmore County.
One of the major hydroelectric power plants is located at Thurlow Dam in Tallassee and the Alabama Power Company manages it. The medium-sized community of around 4500 people is family-oriented and friendly to visitors.
