CenturyLink Internet City Wellsville KS 66092
Wellsville is a city in Franklin County, Kansas, United States. Established in 1884, it is a community that is located in the heartland of the nation. Wellsville is less than an hour’s drive from Kansas. Even though it is close to Kansas, Wellsville has an old-world small-town charm about it. The focus is on Midwest values, making it the perfect place to settle down and start a business or raise a family.
The City was incorporated on July 8, 1884, even though its history goes back to earlier years. Scattered settlements in the Wellsville area began in the 1950s but it was not till the first survey was carried out by Mr. Wells for the Santa Fe Railroad in September 1870 that the City got its name – it was named “Wellsville”, a derivation of Mr. Wells. The Santa Fe Railroad was completed in 1870 and was instrumental in playing a big role in the growth and prosperity of Wellsville. The first plat was submitted by P.O. Elder on May 1, 1872, and has since been accepted as the official map of the City.
Visitors to the City get to see some of the historical buildings that have been well maintained by the City Council. The old bank building at 418 Main was the town’s first brick structure and is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. Another renovated home at 113 E. 5th, just east of Main was the former iconic Barabeau Hotel, the first building in Wellsville.
Apart from getting to see the beautiful town of Wellsville, tourists are also assured of top quality Internet connectivity. Wellsville is a Century Link Internet city with high-speed DSL and Fiber connectivity with the rest of the country.
