CenturyLink Internet Plans, Features, and Benefits

According to IBISWorld, there are 13,126 Internet Service Providers (ISPs).

That makes your job of finding the right ISP difficult, to say the least. The Hours spent comparing prices, download speeds, and reviews are mind-numbing. Even after trudging through all those facts and figures, how can you be sure you’ve chosen the right one?

The simple answer is, you can’t.

Fortunately for you, there’s CenturyLink.

CenturyLink’s internet plans are simple.

Read on to learn more about how CenturyLink can make your internet experience the best it can be.

State of the Art Connections

Centurylink uses fiber optic cable connections for our connectivity and entertainment services. We also have DSL connections for certain services.

Fiber optic connections come in three forms:

Fiber to the Node (FTTN) uses a common network box that provides data services, like broadband to many locations at once. It’s also called Fiber to the neighborhood.

Fiber to the Curb (FTTC) uses existing cabling for a short distance, i.e., from the curb to your home. You can save money installing Fiber Optic cables in this way because coaxial cables can support high speeds for short distances.

Fiber to the Home (FTTH) uses fiber optic cabling until it reaches the boundary of your home or office. After that, coaxial cables convey the signal throughout the space.

Our Services Use IPv6

IPv6 is a protocol used by computers to locate one another across the internet.

It’s predecessor, IPv4, is being phased out because it’s running out of internet addresses.

It’s a sad fact that many companies are waiting until the last minute to adopt IPv6. At present, just over 25% of networks advertise using IPv6 connectivity and we’re one of them.

No Throttling of Popular Services

Throttling occurs when your ISP intentionally slows down your service. This has become a commonplace practice when visiting popular streaming services like Netflix and YouTube.

CenturyLink never throttles or blocks your internet for accessing specific sites. We don’t believe in penalizing you for using your favorite programs, applications, and websites.

You also won’t have data caps when you sign up for one of our Fiber Optic plans.

Free Email Accounts

All customers who sign up for CenturyLink services get up to 11 free email accounts. Each account is CenturyLink branded and ideal for both personal and professional use.

Open Ports (Mostly)

Ports are virtual gateways that let data in and out of networks and computers. Each port gets assigned a certain type of data so your computer knows what to do with it.

Many ISPs block random ports so you can’t use them. CenturyLink only blocks ports hackers exploit on a frequent basis. Doing so helps you stay secure while giving you the freedom to customize your network as you see fit.

Our Service bundles combine your internet, Direct TV or phone services. This allows easier management of your monthly bills giving you only one to pay instead of three.
