Bainbridge Island is situated in Kitsap County, Washington, United States. It is located within the Puget Sound Basin and west of the Seattle. In 1792, Bainbridge Island was explored by the English explorer Captain George Vancouver with his ship HMS Discovery. US Navy Lieutenant Charles Wilkes visited the island in 1841, he named the island after Commodore William Bainbridge. Bainbridge Island was originally a center for the logging and shipbuilding industries.
