Redmond is a city that is located in King County, Washington. As at 2016, the city had a population of 62458 according to the United States Census Bureau. This beautiful city is fondly regarded to as ‘the bicycle capital of the Northwest’ due to the annual bike race that takes place on its streets.
The Redmond area had been inhabited by Native Americans for at least 10000 years with the first European arriving in the 1870’s. Due to the many salmon present in the rivers around the place, it was initially called Salmonberg. This changed to Melrose after a successful inn was established in the area. Finally, the name Redmond was settled upon after Luke McRedmond became the postmaster of the area. The city was incorporated on 31st December 1912.
Redmond has a total area of 16.94 square miles. Out of this, 16.28 square miles is covered by land while the rest 0.66 square miles is covered by water. The city is located at 47°40′10″N 122°07′26″W.
