Kent is the third largest city in King County, Washington. Kent boasts of being the second oldest incorporated city in King County after Seattle. The city was incorporated in 1890 and had a total population of 126952 as at 2015.
The Europeans Americans were the first to settle in the area in the early to mid 1850’s. Since they claimed pieces of land along the White River, the area originally was known as ‘White River’. This later translated to Titusville. It was named so after an early settler who went by the name James Henry Titus. A post office was established in 1861 at the farm of David and Irena Neely. This made them settle at the modern day Kent.
Kent city has a total area of 29.19 square miles. 28.63 of this is covered by land while 0.56 square miles is covered by water. The city is normally divided into East Hill, the Valley and West Hill regions. It lies at 47°22′58″N 122°13′37″W.
