Issaquah is a city mainly located in King County, Washington, United States. It is bordered by the Sammamish Plateau to the north and the Issaquah Alps to its south. The total population of the city, according to the United States Census Bureau 2000 was 11,212 and in a census 2010, there were 30,434 people in the town.
Issaquah is a city located at the coordinates 47°32′8″N 122°2′36″W. As per the United States Census Bureau, the city’s total area is 11.40 square miles, out of which, 11.38 square miles is land and 0.02 square miles is water. Issaquah is locatedin the Mountains to Sound Greenway.
Issaquah was initially a small mining town until it was officially incorporated on April 29, 1892. In 1899, the city’s name was changed to Issaquah by the Washington State Legislature. Issaquah was called Squak, a Native American name, meaning either “the sound of birds”, “snake”, or “little stream”. It was earlier known as “Squak Valley”, derived from the Native-American name.
