Lacey is a beautiful city that is located in Thurston County, Washington. This city established itself as a suburb of Olympia. According to the United States Census Bureau, Lacey had an approximated population of 42393 as at the 2010 general census.
Originally, this city was referred to as Woodland. This was after a couple that went by the names Isaac and Catherine Wood claimed a piece of land in the area in 1853. This ancient area grew up fast and by 1891, the population was enough to apply for the establishment of a post office. However, the requests were turned down since another town had a similar name. As a result, the name ‘Lacey’ was chosen in the application of the new post office. In the 1950’s, this city acquired the name Lacey fully. It was incorporated in December 1966.
Lacey has a total area of 16.51 square miles. Of this total, 16.06 square miles is covered by land while 0.45 square miles is covered by water. On the map, this city is located at 47°1′35″N 122°48′26″W (47.026368, -122.807170).
