History:-

One of the earliest inhabitants of Kelso were known to be Native Americans from the Cowlitz tribe. They were separated into the Upper and Lower Cowlitz tribes. Kelso was founded by a Scottish surveyor, Peter W. Crawford in 1847. Kelso was nicknamed “Little Chicago” in its early days. Kelso was originally plated and filed in October 1884 and was officially became incorporated in 1889.
