History:
The community of Kingston was founded by Benjamin Bannister in 1853. Originally, it was called as Appletree Cove. Between the 1880s and 1900s, Kingston was a lumber town. In the early 1900s, the mill was shut down. Later, Tom Waggoner owned the mill and the business of lumber still runs today. Samuel B. Brierly and Charles C. Calkins planned out the site of Kingston in 1890. Calkins wanted to make it a resort town but later he dropped out their idea when a lesser number of people showed up their interest to settle at that place.
